Ingredients

For the Garlic Bread Base

  • 1 loaf of French or Italian bread
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley or Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

For the Pesto Layer

  • ⅓ cup basil pesto (store-bought or homemade)

For the Cheesy Topping

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for extra flavor)

Optional Garnishes

  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Extra Parmesan for sprinkling

Instructions

Prepare the Garlic Butter

  1. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, garlic powder, dried parsley (or Italian seasoning), and salt until smooth.

Prepare the Bread

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Slice the loaf of bread lengthwise and place both halves cut-side up on the baking sheet.

Assemble the Garlic Bread

  1. Spread an even layer of garlic butter over each bread half.
  2. Spread basil pesto over the garlic butter, using the back of a spoon to distribute evenly.

Add the Cheese

  1. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and Parmesan evenly over both halves. Add cheddar cheese if using.

Bake the Bread

  1. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
  2. For extra crispiness, broil for the last 1–2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.

Garnish and Serve

  1. Let the bread cool for 2–3 minutes. Sprinkle with fresh basil, red pepper flakes, or extra Parmesan if desired.
  2. Slice and serve warm.
